Ethiopia, which dispatched 6500 young soldiers to safeguard the freedom of Korea during the Korean war, is a blood-pledged country of Korea. However, Ethiopia has been undergoing the civil war and continued starvation for the last 20 years, so that its economy is sluggish itself and more than 50% of its population are suffering from poverty and lack of food. To make matters worse, AIDS as the lethal disease is too prevalent for men to work at farms so that its produce yield decreases and famine worsens more seriously than ever. Therefore, helping Ethiopia is not only an authentic support, but also a real reward for joining the Korea war in 1950. Thus, we would like to support many Ethiopian children whose parents died from AIDS or serious poverty with free meal service, family connection, alms, hygienic service, and education under the warm-hearted slogan: "A friend in need is a friend indeed."

About 4.6 million orphans who lost their parents from AIDS disease and starvation are suffering these days, whose death toll is the highest in Africa. Especially, 65000 children in Addisababa are undergoing dystrophia and reduced immunity so that they are exposed to AIDS again, which is "a vicious cycle of poverty and disease". KVO(Korea International Volunteer Organization) has been preparing to help Ethiopia from 2401, and already established KVO Ethiopian local chapter in order to let them devote themselves to working their nation. We are trying to register KVO as one of the NGOs by the Ethiopian government. Also, KVO has already formed "5 person committee" to carry out many upcoming projects such as 500 loving meal as well as 1000 angels service in close cooperation with Local NGO which is one of the specialized NGOs for handling problems related to AIDS in Ethiopia.

Ethiopia is a historic country, has maintained their independence over 3000 years, and developed their own culture with their letters. Ethiopia dispatched 6000 soldiers during the Korea War, and fought for freedom & protection of democracy of Korea.

Ethiopia is one of the poorest countries in the world, but it has an abundance of resources and is 5 times area of Korea. Also it is known as an important nation of east Africa, that AU (African Union) and UNECA (UN Economic Commission for Africa) is located. But Ethiopia became poor because of communist dictatorship during 1974-91, war with Somalia, war with Eritrea and internal war. Also a lot of people are suffering from hunger because of droughts and HIV/AIDS is threatening their lives
