In Thailand, the minorities living in the
mountain and valley regions are out of their government's
reach. They are living in a poor natural environment without
any social benefits such as medical treatment or education.
This has resulted in high infant mortality rates in the region.
Confronting these difficulties of Anka natives in Thailand,
KVO has provided short-term and long-term medical services.
Since 1997, we have also expanded education opportunities
to the natives to break the vicious cycle of poverty.
KVO has provided urgently needed educational
materials to the high valley region of Mahingkong Chinag Rai. In addition,
it supported the school meals program to protect the native children
from diseases caused by malnutrition.
Selected young people, prepared for voluntary
activity in North East Asian countries, were dispatched to
the region to help build a school for native children. Through
this volunteer activity, KVO provided young people with opportunities
to understand and cooperate with others.
